THE PHENOMENA OF AGING

"We are in such a hurry to grow up and then we long for our lost childhood." Paulo Coelho Do you realize that the only time in our life when we like to get old is when we are kids. If you are less than 10 years of age, you are so excited about aging that you think in fractions. "How old are you?" "I am four and a half!" You are never thirty -six and a half. You are four and a half, going on five! That's the key. You get into your teens. Now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number or even a few ahead. "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13 but you're gonna be 16 and then the greatest day of your life.... You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony. YOU BECOME 21. YESSS! And then you turn 30. Ooohhh what happened there? Makes you sound like spoiled milk. There is no fun now. What's wrong? What has changed? You BECOME 21. You TURN 30. You are PUSHING 40. Put on the brakes. It's all slipping away. Before you know, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone. But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60 and you didn't think you would. So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60. You have built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that, it's a day by day thing; you HIT Wednesday! You get into your 80s and everyday is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch, you TURN 4:30, you REACH bedtime and it doesn't end there. In your 90s, you start going backwards; "I WAS JUST 92." Then a strange thing happens if you make it over 100. You become a kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!" Life is short. Surround yourself with what and whom you love.

    Beautiful ❤️.
    I think that we've glamorized some years and stigmatized others. If you look around you'll see that people who are easily influenced by others opinion are mostly hiding their age. While self aware and wise people age with grace.

    True, life is like this but there are people who enjoy and care about others no matter in whatever phase of life they are. With every passing decade it seems you still have to do a lot for yourself and for others so yes life is short!

The theme REJECTED did not merely appear before my eyes — it brushed against my heart like a sudden stroke of charcoal across an untouched canvas. I know the residency speaks through visual art, yet I carry colours made of words and brushes dipped in emotion. As a literature student and a language teacher, I long to paint with sentences — to sketch silence, to shade pain, to outline hope. Rejection, after all, is the world’s rough draft, not its final masterpiece. Some people frame acceptance; I frame scars. Some display portraits; I display perspectives. I want to write a narrative where the erased lines speak louder than the bold ones, where smudges become sunsets and broken edges become borders of belonging.
